Essential oils are often associated with rest and relaxation. And while there’s no doubt they’re excellent for soothing the mind and soul, there’s plenty of other useful ways they can be used in your day-to-day routine.
From top-to-toe, inside and out, here’s our ultimate essential oil guide.
Hack #1: Use Essential Oils To Soothe A Headache
As far as essential oil beauty hacks go, learning which essential oils are good for headaches can mean the difference between bed rest and living your best life. Peppermint, rosemary and lavender essential oils are among the top three for soothing your blood-thumping symptoms.
To try this at home, massage our Peppermint Pure Essential Oil gently into your temples, or the affected area, while breathing deeply with your eyes closed. Then, run yourself a bath with a few drops of our Lavender Pure Essential Oil, breathing in the aroma as you soak. Rosemary works for both, so you can customise this routine based on your personal preference.
Hack #2: Use Essential Oils To Freshen Up Your Laundry
Fact: Aromatherapy smells good.
So why not use essential oils to eliminate odour? A good place to start is the laundry. To make your own essential oil laundry scent booster, simply add a few drops of what you deem as your best smelling essential oil, into your unscented laundry detergent or softener. Shake it up and then add more if necessary, until you find the perfect blend.
Our Lemongrass Pure Essential Oil is an excellent choice for those who like sweating it out at the gym (smelly activewear won’t stand a chance) or if you’re having a stressful week, try our Cedarwood Pure Essential Oil for a calming, tranquil scent that’s (quite literally) up your sleeve at all times.
Hack #3: Use Essential Oils To Sleep Better
If you’re struggling to snooze for a solid seven to eight hours every night, essential oils can also help to improve your sleep. Lavender, thanks to its stress-relieving and mind-soothing abilities, is one of the best essential oils for sleep. Simply add a few drops into an aroma diffuser before dozing off, or if you’ve been wondering what you can do with essential oils without a diffuser, try massaging some into the bottom of your feet (yes, really!).
The feet are considered as one of the key absorbing points of the body and will release the benefits of your oil most efficiently (which for lavender is a one way ticket to snooze town). Now that’s an essential oil beauty hack!
Hack #4: Use Essential Oils For Clearer Skin
Acne isn’t much fun for anyone, and if you’ve tried every skincare product under the sun with no success, it could be time to look into how to use essential oils on your skin. And yes, we mean on your face. Our Geranium Pure Essential Oil can help to balance out sebum production, which is one of the common causes of pimples. And because it’s balancing, it can be used on both dry and oily skin types.
Top Tip: This oil can be easily added into your current skincare routine. Simply add 1-2 drops to your favourite dollop of moisturiser and massage into freshly cleansed skin. It can be used morning and night, and all over the body too!
Hack #5: Use Essential Oils As A Mosquito Repellent
Summer is coming, and so are the mozzies. Lucky for us, essential oils make for an excellent natural insect repellent. Our Peppermint Pure Essential Oil packs a punch on its own, or you can make your own essential oil mosquito repellent using the Lemongrass Pure Essential Oil, Lavender Pure Essential Oil and Cedarwood Pure Essential Oil.
To make: Add 20 drops of lemongrass, 20 drops of lavender and 10 drops of cedarwood into a spray bottle. Pour in ½ cup of witch hazel, ½ cup of water and 1tbsp of rubbing alcohol (to keep it combined). Shake well and then spritz onto the skin (or clothes if you prefer).
Blending Your Own Essential Oils
Essential oils have many different uses, so experiment with different blends and scents to discover what works best for you and your specific needs.
