5 Unhelpful Beauty Myths To Ditch!

Beauty is all around us. Now that we all have easy access to the Internet and social media, it’s easy to find a tip or a product recommendation or a new look to recreate.

But we’re also exposed to A LOT of misinformation and fake news… after all, filters, Photoshopped photos and body slimming apps have become the norm on social media.

Because of this, a lot of what we see about beauty in the media can be unhelpful and even damaging to our health and self-esteem. At RAWW, we’re all about cultivating a healthy mind in a healthy body (with super healthy skin!), so we want to help you see you don’t need to change a thing to feel like the beautiful QUEEN you are.

Ready to debunk some of these unhelpful beauty myths? Here are 5 beauty myths busted.

Myth #1: “Skincare is complicated”

One claim we see again and again is that skincare is too complicated. The result? Many people are afraid of it, and think they’ll be doing it wrong! But the truth is, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Skincare should be accessible to anyone, and there are simple skincare routines that anyone can follow. Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of the 3-step ‘cleanse, tone, moisturise’ routine - it’s super easy, and it works!
Want to get started with an easy 3-step skincare routine? Here’s how:
Cleanse your skin with the Purify-ME Gentle Cleanser
Apply the Balance-ME Mist Toner
Moisturise with the Super Hydrate-ME Day Cream

Myth #2: “Beauty looks a specific way”

We couldn’t disagree more with this one! Everyone is unique, and it’s our unique features that make us beautiful. If everyone looked the same, wouldn’t life be so boring?

The key is to learn to love yourself to boost your self-confidence. Once you’re confident in your own skin, there’s nothing you can’t achieve. Your confidence will shine through, and so will your natural beauty.

Myth #3: “You need to wear makeup every day”

Some people love to wear makeup every day, some don’t. It’s a personal choice, and nobody should feel pressured to wear makeup every day (or ever!) if they don’t want to. But if you are going to wear makeup every day, you’re going to need an effective skincare routine to help keep your skin properly cleansed.

Having a break from makeup now and then can let your skin breathe, while also giving you the chance to show off natural beauty. At RAWW, while we never ever skip our skincare routine (because we love giving our skin all of the good stuff!), we also love our no-makeup days and we absolutely love a bare-face or minimal makeup look. We simply apply a light BB cream like our Superfood Glow Beauty Balm, some Lengthening Mascara and a little bit of Acai Berry Illuminator in Honey Glow - and voilà! You’ve got the perfect trio for barely-there beauty.

Myth 4: “Beauty is linear”

Actually, beauty is cyclical. You may not look and feel your best every single day - your cycle, sleeping patterns and stress levels can all affect how you look and feel. Nobody is perfect every day, so try to go with the flow and not be too hard on yourself.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to be productive or “on fleek” every day. Don’t worry about down days or getting a pimple now and then - it happens to all of us. Instead, incorporate aromatherapy and essential oils to relax and de-stress when you need to. And when you want to give your skin a bit of TLC, our SUPERFOOD SALAD Green Clay Detox Mask is just what you need to give for a superfood pick-me-up. You’ll be back to feeling 100% soon enough!

Myth 5: “You need to weigh or look a certain way to be healthy”

No, no, and no. This is one of those beauty statements that is fundamentally NOT TRUE. Weight and appearance don’t equal ‘health’. The notion of BMI is outdated. Beautiful, healthy bodies come in all kinds of shapes, weights and sizes.

Focus your energy into your health through holistic exercise and practising self-care. With the right approach to your health, you’ll feel great on the inside and look fabulous on the outside too.
